  Mrs. Aida Franco

Hola!
Bienvenidos, welcome to Hamlin High School Spanish classes.
My name is Aida Franco. I have always been passionate
about anything that has to do with the spanish language.
My hobbies include cooking(Mexican food is my specialty),
reading, spending time with family and traveling.

I really love and enjoy teaching. My goal is to help the
students attain an acceptable degree of proficiency in
listening, speaking, writing, and reading spanish. The
students need to realize that the Spanish speaking world
and its culture is a reality which does or will affect their
lives. The students will also gain an appreciation of the
similarities and differences between their culture and those
of Hispanic countries.

Learning another language is not only about learning vocabulary and grammatical concepts. If you are fluent in a second language but know little about the culture you will not have an understanding of the people. In our spanish classes we discuss the two levels of culture. One is superficial which includes obvious categories. This level is surface culture, and is the level on which most teachers and classroom materials focus. The second level, deep culture, deals with deeper values and elements of culture which are more important in understanding a culture and its members.

What do I love most about teaching? I love the students!
