Hello, welcome to our 2nd Grade class! My name is Jill Bell. I have been a teacher in the Hamlin Elementary for the past 29 years. This will be my last year teaching the children of Hamlin.

My goal is to have all my scholars exhibit exemplary academic performance in reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies.

I provide my scholars an educational setting which meets their intellectual, social and emotional needs.

I welcome parents to visit our classroom any time during the year.

Reading

We will have homework every night. Your scholar needs to be reading to you every night for at least 20 minutes. Each week we will be reading two stories. The first story on Monday and Tuesday nights and the second story on Wednesday and Thrusday nights. The vocabulary and comprehension from these stories will be tested on Friday. A six weeks test will be given on the sixth week of the grading period. This test will be a comprehension test over the reading skills that have been taught over the grading period.

Spelling

A 20 word spelling test will be given every Friday.


Math

We will have math homework everynight. Please check over their math homework and give help understanding it if they need it. We will also start memorizing their additions and subtraction facts. Please help your scholar learn these facts as they come along.
